Loose wire identification

hey guys, recently taking over my grandpas 89’ Sierra. First found this wire and thought it was for the alternator but can’t figure out where it goes. Any information?

I believe the sensor it goes to is in the second picture behind those tiewrapped sparkplug wires , believe its a coolant temp sensor(theres a different one on top of the manifold too)

Yeah, probably temp sender wire. I assume the coolant temp gauge isn't working. That's what that temp sender is for
