Hi All, newb here.
First time GMT400 owner and first timer on a forum so I apologize in advance while I figure this out. I’ve been getting by with my autel scanner and facebook for years but I think I’ll be needing some help with this one.
I just picked up a 1994 C1500 W/T (4.3L 5-speed) which I plan to daily. It’s not perfect but it’s damn close to it.
Couple of issues I’m running into off the back is the OBD1 system. First time
With one. I bought the Inovva scanner for $30 just because it’s cooler than the paperclip method. Couple days ago my speedo went out, and CEL came on so I plugged the scanner in, got code 16 - unplugged the speed sensor to clean it up a little and then plugged it in speedo works most of the time now.
My next concern is the temp gauge - it barely goes over 100 - heat is nice and warm though. Had it been an obd2 vehicle I’d use my autel and see the reading to determine if it’s a lazy needle or a bad sensor. I’m lost on this one. I did some research and know that there’s 2 sensors? So I might just start by replacing that. And see where it takes me.
Here’s a couple photos of the ol’ girl - named her Winona Trails to match the W/T on the tailgate. The big white girl in the background we’ve had for 4 years, 3 of which she’s just sat there after she did her job and gave us an awesome summer of camping and moved us from NY - PA. Hoping to have the time and money soon (after winter) to give her the attention she deserves.
