Has anybody installed a roof cargo rack on a gmt400 pickup?

Always wanted to put an off road style roof rack on my truck to tie down some stuff at the top, but was wondering if it would look stupid or not

There isn't enough structure up on the roof to support anything you would put up there without it tin-canning in. That is why the SUVs have ribs in them.

As stupid as this may sound I dont even really plan on using it as much. Maybe to mount lights and sleeping bags or something for a trip. But mainly for looks and some little function. I've always been a sucker for roof racks on pickup trucks

There's a guy on base with a 400 with a rack that looks similar. I think his is tubing though.

Kevin's design is something I could see working well.

I've always though of a basket for my canopy, but it would never get used.
