Delete that EVO crap.
Replace the rag joint.
Have your alignment guy dial in as much Caster as possible. It'll make for a slightly heavier feel, & the truck will want to come back to center more readily, resulting in less wander.
Tires wider/larger/heavier than stock? A bit more toe-in will help with that wandering, too.
These truck's P/S is w-a-y too over-boosted to begin with. There's stuff you can do to lower the pressure, but that's a subject that requires more writing than I'm prepared to do @ 5 AM! Lol! (Coffee! I NEED more coffee!)
A dedicated thread would probably be more appropriate, anyhow. Just too busy in the shop right now to sit down & start one up.

As the owner of two '97s with intact and functional EVO steering (knock on wood), I would love to read that thread if you ever get around to posting it!
