The best I've seen from my 97 6.5 is about 18mpg. Thats with 4" exhaust, Heath Diesel PCM, 14PSI boost, advanced injection pump, new injectors, marine intake, intercooler, relocated FSD with #9 resistor, and other misc mods.
What year is it? If it has the DS4 pump on it, start saving up for a FSD/PMD module with a relocation kit, if it doesnt already have one. These are equivilant to the ignition module for a gasser. Stock it is mounted on the side of the injection pump and the heat soak from the engine kills it, as well as the poor design in general. So far my Heath Diesel relocator and FSD module have been doing fine for awhile.
If you need anything and I dont see your post feel free to PM me, I know a bunch about these things. Owned mine for 10 years, do all my own work, except for the reprorammed PCM.
