My 94 K1500 has it's stock 10 bolt 3.42's but I'm running 315's and gonna upgrade to 35's soon so I was wondering what's gonna be my best option gear ratio?
I want some better mpg and don't want to strain my engine/tranny so much. I do mild offroading. Mostly just hunting land.
Thanks

A 315/75r16 is considered a 35/12.50r16. Its actual measurement is 34.6/12.40r16. If you do buy a 35/12.50 tire it probably wont be a true 35 inches. You'll hear alot of people talk bad about a 10 bolt, maybe they are horrible but mine gets abused pretty hard and its holding up just fine, but i do not recommend using a factory G80 limited slip. My truck has 4.56 gears front and rear with a locker in the rear. That is what i would recommend for your truck.

I hear a 4.56 will run my rpm's way up and I don't know if that's actually true or not. But I can't lie you completely lost me talking about the G80 slip thing I have no clue what that is, I'm good with my truck just bad with names haha.
I was maybe thinking 4.10's because my truck isn't pushed hard at all.

i had 4.56's and 33s for awhile, the tires actually measured 32 inches. and it ran 2000rpms at 60. so i think your safe with 35. I have 37s now and i really wish i would have went with 4.88's. but running 4.56's with 35s it should feel like driving a stock truck.

4.56 gears and 35's will put you close to the same ratio as stock size 265's and 3.73 gears. On the highway my with 35's and 4.56 gears my 92 at 2000 rpm would be running around 65mph. The proper gears will very much help the tranny I see 15-20* higher temps now with the 4.56 and 38.5's.

Well it seems 4.56's will overall be my best pick.
I'm planning on getting some soon so can anyone help me out with a website/link for a good place to order from?
And how hard is it to actually put them in?

Thanks for all the quick reply's and advice

My truck also had 3.42s.....I went to 4.10s and Im on 315s....If you do the axle ratio calculator Im somewhere near a 3.73. Mine does great. Pretty much like stock and gets stock mpg.

It doesn't feel like it's losing power on hills or nothing?
Where did you buy them from?
