Exhaust Sputter

Hey everyone...i just got a 94 C1500 reg cab short bed with a TBI 350, and it needs the exhaust replaced(leaks and doesnt sound very good) and i'm wanting to know if there is any way to get rid of the sputtering sound that there usually is with older trucks when you put aftermarket exhaust on them?

If you've got a sputtering sound after an aftermarket exhaust install, one would assume you still have an exhaust leak
