BOLT,HEX W/CON WA,M8X1.25X30,25THD,17 O.D.,9.8,PO(R/FDR)\

NUT,HEX W/CON WA,M8X1.25,10THK,19 O.D.,10,7111M(R/FDR)(8.917)

These sizes came from Here

http://www.gmpartsgiant.com/ > Chevrolet > K3500 > 1997 > RR Body Structure > Fender Pickup Box

Appears as though the U nuts are M8 also.

Better check the diagram/link for yourself though, I may be wrong.

Nalleygmc also list the bolt, might be part # 24503695 http://parts.nalleygmc.com/products...eering-Column-Attaching/2997279/24503695.html

Maybe, if you had to, you could probably use some regular 8MMX1.25 nuts and 30MM long bolts from the hardware store.
Might need to add some flat washers to those regular nuts and bolts as well, if there are no washer like heads on them.

Best of luck.
