I'm trying to decide what tire size I want to get next. I currently have 235/75r15s on the truck on a 15x8 wheel. It looks good but I think I want to go wider for an even better look. Trying to decide between 255/70r15 and 275/60r15.

The 255/70-15 will be about 3/4" wider, 1/4" taller, probably not that noticeable. 275/60-15 will be about 1-1/2" wider, but almost 1" shorter, which would definitely be noticeable. I always use a tire size calculator to figure out how the different sizes compare.

A 265/75-15 would look good, that's almost a 31" tire.

I'm looking for a 2wd tire not 4x4. 31" is too tall.

OK then. A 31" tire is not necessarily a "4X4 tire". At any rate, your 275/60 choice is wider but not taller. Use the website I linked to play around with different sizes until you find one that meets your needs.

I'm running BFG 285x70x15's on the rear of my 1991 Chev C1500 on 8" wide wheels. The truck is lowered 6" and the tires look good. Really fills up the wheel-well.

255/70r16 fits and looks perfect if you're willing to go up a wheel size

I have 275/60 R15 on my truck. You can see in my avatar. I think they're too small looking for my truck. Rather have 16" or 17" rims, maybe same tire size. Maybe it's just my cheap rims that make the whole thing not look good. I thought they looked good 15 years ago when I got them, but not so much anymore.
Since they're a smaller tire size than stock, you'll be going slower according to speedometer than actual (I think I have that right?). I have a power programmer where I adjusted diameter of tire so speedo is accurate.
