Aux light issue

Added aux lighta today. Used a relay so the aux lights would have direct battery power. Tapped into the highbeams as to be the control unit for the relay, hoping when triggered it would trigger the aux lights. However the result was the aux lights not receiving any power, and the highbeams staying on all the time (directly wired to battery)

It sounds like you have the connections to the relay wrong. The power from the high beam should trigger the coil of the relay so connect that to pin 86 on the relay. Pin 85 will go to ground. Power from the battery will connect to pin 30 and your aux lights will connect to pin 87. It is a good idea to put a fuse between the battery and the relay.
