anyone here do a vortec 5 speed swap???

tomorrow im going to the junkyard to get a tranny, transfer, clutch pedal, master cylender and slave, flywheel, wiring to the tranny, computer, brake pedal, dash wiring, gauges, steering column and computer out of a 96 gmc 2500 eclb 4x4 the tranny is non granny low and i plan on swapping this into my 98 when i do the frame swap... how hard is it and what else would i need while im down there im getting a hell of a deal on the stuff and just need to know what else is needed and how hard its gonna be thanks guys

its a 4500 right? rear driveshaft i think the length is different from an auto trans

i think its the 3500 im not 100% sure yet wont know till i really look at it tomorrow

The NV3500, NV4500, 700R4, and 4L60E are all basically the same length, so unless you have a TH400, TH350 or 4L80E you shouldn't have to change a thing.

NV3500 and NV4500 are WAY different animals. Both have a much lower 1st gear than any of the auto transmissions. NV4500 is either 6.34:1 OR 5.61:1.. NV3500 is 4.05:1.

If it was a NV3500 i'd pass personally. They are just about as complicated and expensive to rebuild as an automatic and aren't really any stronger.

well im getting everything i need to do the swap for 75 bucks and like i said im not sure on which one it is becuase i havnt been under the truck yet

yeah thats why im doing it i gotta pull everyting myself but i figure for 75 bucks i cant beat it
