Well my family and i were on our way to town when the temp gauge was maxed and steam was pouring out , I opened the hood and found the coolant overflow...boilin over and the rad dry. What bad luck all this and it is -41 here, luckily I managed to drain the antifreeze from the overflow into a cup and pour it into the rad and limp my way home. Please let me know what i should repair/replace?

Could be lots of things, water pump, bad thermostat just to name a couple.......You are going to have to fill it, watch it run and see what happens.

So will a popped head gasket.

Bad thermostat would be the first place I would look...

I was thinking the same thing, frozen radiator will cause it to run hot. A bad thermostat or rad cap would be the most likely cause though

I highly doubt Campbell river has ever even seen -15 let alone -41.

Weathernetwork.com says "0" right now so I'm betting that was supposed to be -4 or -1C....
