As the title says i have a 93 1500 with a bad 700r4 just bought it for 1800. Hell of a deal for this truck . Anyways. Question is what transmisions will go in this. Has a 350 motor. Ive read they had a 700r4 and 4l60e . It is 4wd. And has the 700r4. What years can i look at and can the 4l60e bolt up . If so from what year vehicles.

Thanks

The 4L60E is a later electronic version of the 700R4. So yes physically it will bolt up but then you will need to add the wiring for the transmission and possibly a TCM. (not sure if the GMT400s use a seperate computer for the trans or not) Your best bet if you want to keep a 4 speed in it would be to just rebuild and beef up the existing 700R4. Other option is swapping in a TH350 or TH400 but both of those are 3 speeds.

You might be able to use a 1993 4l60 but anything after that wont work without some sort of transmission control module. The "E" stands for electronic. Best bet would be either rebuild your 700R4 or find another one.

Ok cool. Ive got a lead on a 700r4 and transfer case out of a early chevy for less then 300 but 3rd gear is bad. Might just get that fix third and build the bad one up for my needs.

Thanks guys. Any other info is still welcome.

To be honest no. Going by what previous owner has told me. Is there a way to check. Stamped on it or something. I know there is a big K

Easiest way would be going to your local gm dealer with the vin and give it to the parts counter person. They can look it up and print off the full rpo list for that specific truck.

A 700R4 will have a cable going from drivers side of trans to the throttle linkage on the tb, a 4L60e will not have this cable. Being said all the 93s I have came across had the 4L60e.

GM also made a 4L60 that wasn't electronic. What they actually came in, that I don't know.
