i have a 89 chevy shorty im lookin to replace the rear end what would be a good swap for this truck 5.7 tbi 700r4 6 lug also would it work if i went disc in the rear as well

14 bolt semi floating should bolt right up and be considerably beefier than the 10 that you might have in there.

how hard are they to find what kind of truck whould it come off of

its a 6 lug what kind of vehical has that rear end

It is a 6-lug axle and it can be found in heavy 1/2 tons, GM RPO F44, and light 6-lug 3/4 tons. They are all over the place and came in all sorts of trucks, and suburbans too if I'm not mistaken. Look for a 14-bolt cover and a 6-lug axle and you found it. It's the only axle with that combination and no other.
