The "Giant Black Can" modulators were adjustable, too--once you broke the spot-weld.I put an adjustable vacuum modulator on the TH400 in my Jaguar. It's one of the few parts that's still $20 cheap.

They were so huge because they had an anaeroid bellows inside that compensated for altitude/barometric pressure that the smaller, aftermarket modulators don't have.
