502 bbc intake

Ok guys I was going to do a 496 build. But I came across a 502. I am wondering about intakes. A lot of people say the stock 454 intake only flows to like 4000. Would I be better off getting a holley or edelbrock efi intake? And if I do that can I extend the injector harness so I can use the stock harness? Just an idea?? Or should I stay with the stock intake? Its on a 2000 4 door. Wanting to still use it as a truck to pull but play when I'm not.
