Hi Folks.
I couldn't find the 5.7 small block head gasket orientation on the web, so here it is.
All I could find was "It Doesn't Matter!"
OK, so the composition/metal gasket I bought had two different sides, just like the original GM gasket. One side has metal around each cylinder, the other with a continuous band of metal across the gasket around each cylinder and between the cylinders (as in the image below).
I looked at the original GM gasket and it was installed with the continuous metal side towards to block. That's how I installed it.
