4l60e interchangeability question

I lost 3rd gear today in my 95 k1500 and was able to pick up a 4l60e out of a 94 suburban. I've seen that all the years are different and they aren't direct swaps. I've seen on different threads that its not hard to make work and others that said your better off finding one out of the exact same year. I've never done this before and I'm really short on time. (Like next weekend) so all help is much appreciated thanks

95 is the ba$tard year for these trucks. You will be better off and have less issues if you get a 95 trans.
