I have a 97 k1500 with a 4l60e. Whenever it shifts from 2nd to 3rd at a low rpm i get a clunk noise. If i floor it, the noise does not occur. Any ideas of what could be causing this? Im 100% confident that its not my u-joints because i just replaced them. Please help! Thanks

Chock your tires, so you don't get squished by accident, then put it in neutral, crawl underneath and rotate the driveshaft forwards and backwards by hand. If it's the U-joints, or Rear-End, it should be pretty obvious and audible. Have a good look around while you're under there, Springs, shocks, tranny mount.

Thanks for the reply. My trans mount is in good shape but there is quite a bit of rotational play in the driveshaft. How much is acceptable? The noise seems to be coming from the transfer case or transmission. Cant tell for sure
