I'm surprised nobody came in here and said the nv3500 wont last. It will go together with a 454 flywheel, but how you drive it will determine how long it will hold up.

If you drive like mrs daisy that Trans will last.. If you drive it kinda ruff everyonce in a while it might last a very short time. Personally I'd not even bolt it up to a 454 I had a nv3500 in my 95 w original motor an 285k on it and I broke the input shaft and I'm not hard on the truck at all.. But the swap is straight forward just need all the 3rd pedal stuff outta the truck and the master cyl and slave cyl depending on transfer case you intend to use would be only thing if both trucks are floor shift your good to go but if suburban is electric you may need an adapter

Find you a nv4500 transmission. It's a direct bolt in and you can reuse your tcase. The 4500 will handle the 454. I've thought about the same swap with a 454...

And 88gmctruck (Dave) did a 350/700r4 to 454/nv4500. You can check his thread out for ideas. You won't need te trans stuff because it's a direct bolt in though.
