You'd have to cut off the leaf spring pads and weld them in a different location because the width is different. Other than that, it would work and as a bonus has a larger ring gear than the older rear ends too so it's a bit stronger.

So this new rear end, is it a 10 bolt or a 14? If you get the 10 bolt for just the disc brakes it will be a downgrade and you should just get a kit to convert your existing drums.

well my old diff has 260,000kms on it this new diff has 23,000 and I can do the metalwork myself, plus they want $150 for the diff.

160000 miles? That's all? If it were me I'd leave it alone if you aren't having problems.

What are the width differences between your current rearend and the one your looking at, from back plate to back plate?
