NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

I didn't because I know the GMT900 brakes work. Once I have proof of concept, then I can get wilder with it. Also, I would have to run spacers or get new wheels, and I just don't want to do either. I may swap in the future, but not right now.

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

    My LCAs were Delphi TC6239 and TC6241 Application: 2000 Chevrolet 2500 6.0

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

Parts mostly look right to me except I didn't used lower arms meant for Mexican-market trucks. I used ones from a 2000 GMT800 2500. I'll dig out the part numbers in a sec. Also, I used Mevotech bearings. They come with the bolts already so you save money there. They also have the hub surfaces...

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

My fitting is a 3/8-24. I took the old GMT400 hose as well as the new GMT800 with me to verify. Mine thread on and off just fine. With everything connected, no leaks.

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

2000 Chevy 2500 (GMT800) arm Yes, the Ball Joint hole. I reamed the top one only. Thanks for pointing these out, I edited my post above. I'll be going for an alignment next week once I finish the brakes and doing a rear wheel seal. I work long hours and only get weekends to work on it right now.

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

Here's my photos. In these photos, I still need to hang rotors and pads, but the swap is essentially done. I'll have completed photos later this week. Notes: I did NOT ream the bottom hole, I used new LCAs from a 2000 Chevy 2500 (GMT800). They are drop forged, come with the ball joint and...

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

As an update to this thread - I can add some photos of my swap if that would be helpful. I also wrote down some party numbers of things I used like the brake line adapter and the stainless steel braided hoses.

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

If you're talking about a 2wd, I don't think anyone does. Honestly, I don't think anyone sells pre-modified spindles for this swap at all.

NBS steering components in a 400

Can confirm; I swapped in the GMT800 box, hydroboost, and the steering shaft. Only had to modify the shaft a bit, basically eliminated the rag joint on my truck with the bottom half of the 800 shaft and the top half of the 400 shaft. A Cherokee (WJ) shaft would also work, that's what I had...

13" NBS rear disc on 14 bolt SF

Anyone had a problem with the rotors from the NBS brakes not seating all the way down on the 14bsf axle flanges?

4l60e to 4l80e conversion article from Four Wheeler

I have a 5.3 and 4L80E I'm swapping into a 98 K1500 ECSB - anyone know if I can keep my stock drive shafts by moving the engine forward? of so, by how much? or which mounts did you use (besides the Dingo mounts)

    GMT 400 Hydroboost swap

if you can find it - I wound up going with a GMT800 setup for my 98 K1500. it takes modification here and there, it is not a bolt-in, but it isn't as hard as solid axle swap. I used parts from a 2004 Suburban with HB, and got the HB unit and the hose from the HB unit to the gear box. I also...

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

I've done it, several others have or are doing it. Go check out FSC, there are threads on it. It's pretty doable.

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

You HAD to ream the bottom hole? I thought it was the same size as the LBJ on the OBS trucks. I tested mine with an OBS LBJ and it didn't need reaming. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

That's a technique. I'll continue to use my reamer. but I like your setup, it looks clean.

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

For NBS brakes? Is all of that used parts? If yes and yes, that's terrible. I can ship you reamed spindles, plus hubs and core calipers for that with hoses and hardware. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

I can. 1.5:1 is for older stuff. Chevelles and novas and the like. Use the 2.0:1 Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

that's no good. I haven't heard any issues with the NBS spindle/brake swap other than what has been brought up here. basically, as long as you have a 4x4, it's pretty straight-forward.

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

the benefit would be in the bigger rotor and the better, 2-piston caliper.

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

Rears are stupid easy to convert to disk, as long as you have the square flange axles (like the later 10-bolts and the 14 BSF) the rectangle flange axles can also be done, but would require an adapter of some sort - so far, everyone just swaps the axle for a square flange axle and calls it...

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

I need to find that article. that sounds really possible. so, ream both B/J holes from the bottom, flip the steering B/J so i comes up from the bottom, and use the stock lower from the bottom, and it might just work - here's a question. would that lower the truck at all? seems like it would...

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

gotcha. I'm starting with the 6-lug option because I think it will be the easiest to make it work, and a lot of guys will go 6-lug just for more wheel options. I'm trying to figure out a way to be able to use off-the shelf parts so that in the long-term, the brakes won't be cost-prohibitive to...

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

I picked up some 6-lug 2wd rotors from the JY, and a 2wd spindle, and a NBS spindle/hub/caliper/rotor assembly so I can take measurements and start fab'ing something up. do the z06 rotors have the same bolt pattern as the 5-lug 2wd trucks?
