    What have you towed lately

    looks good, what are you bars rated for? from pic, it looks like your bars might benefit from an upgrade, imo. i use 600lbs for my current trailer, but have seen 1000lbs ones.

    Cast, OBD1 can set codes without the check engine light coming on. You don't need a code reader to check, google check codes obd1 to find procedure.

    OP from your problem description, when my 95 had the same symptoms, it turned out to be the 02 sensor. how old is yours?

    looks in good shape even a chrome rear bumper. It'll get good mileage if you normal. I really like driving my 97. one thing i couldn't live with, no power locks and fob, so installed aftermarket with a security system.

    Code 43 knock sensor fault.

    43 Knock sensor (KS) Wiring open circuit/short circuit to ground/short to positive, KS, PROM, ECM PROM, maybe you need to double check installation if you replaced ECM.
