    98 Sold - Now have 2005 Crew!

Guy I know at work was selling a low mileage 2005 Silverado 1500 LT Crew for well below market and it's black on black, so I bit! Sold the 98 ECSB Stepside in about a week and got my money right back out of it. Loved the 98, but this 2005 is awesome. Will be finding another forum, so C-Ya L8R.

    Heater core removal instructions needed

Thx, glad to hear that. I've replaced heater cores before, but heard the job on the 99+ models is much more challenging. Didn't know if this one was easy or hard.

    Heater core removal instructions needed

Recently changed all the coolant hoses on my 98 305 with 191K miles. All of them were original (yes, 12 years old)!! One of the hoses had a small leak where it connects to the heater core, so I tried 2 different new clamps to no avail. Bypassed the heater core and the leak stopped. Seems I...

    Need help with tire size!!

For a 15 x 10 wheel, a 295/50/15 should be close to stock height and not throw off your speedo/odo too much. I have aftermarket 15 x 8 wheels and am looking to get either 255/70 or 275/60 (the 255/70 is the closer to stock height than the 275/60).

Does a horn qualify as audio or electronics?

The horn was the only thing that didn't work when I recently purchased my 98 ECSB stepside. Traced it back to a bad relay. $14 for one with a lifetime warranty and it now works great. BTW: The horn relay is located in the fuse/relay box under the hood on the driver side. Flip over the...

    Newbie - N. Houston, TX

Bought a black 98 Silverado ECSB stepside about 2 weeks ago for towing the family camper and other occassional use. Well cared for, looks and runs great. Already added my Tekonsha digital brake controller and a Hayden 10K lb Rapid-Cool heavy duty trans cooler (can't overcool a tranny in S...

Need pics of transmission line routing or a very detailed description please.

That's what I was able to physically verify, thx daddy_dandy. Ironically, my wife's 2007 Uplander follows the same flow pattern.

Need pics of transmission line routing or a very detailed description please.

Decided to just make my own loose end hoses and watch the fluid flow, that way I physically verify it. Fluid flowed out of the factory trans cooler line mounted at the top of the radiator, so that's obviously the return line. Hayden #679 now fully hooked up!

Need pics of transmission line routing or a very detailed description please.

Thanks Mike. I've got the routing done for the aftermarket cooler, just need to know which factory metal line to tap. Need to tap into the return line so the fluid goes from the factory (radiator) cooler to the aftermarket cooler. Is the return line the one at the top of the radiator or the...

    Fuel gauge issue

Newbie here, just purchased a 98 Ext Cab Short Bed stepside, great condition. The fuel gauge needle vibrates rapidly back and forth when the truck is running. Position (reading) seems right, but it constantly vibrates slightly above and below its position. Any help with the cause and fix...

Need pics of transmission line routing or a very detailed description please.

Hey Mike, do I understand you correctly with the rewording below? Hot fluid travels from the transmission to the in-radiator (factory) cooler through the upper line (top of rad). Cooled fluid travels from the in-radiator cooler to the transmission through the lower line (bottom of rad). I'm...
