    Stall converter

With that small of a cam and with fuel injection there shouldn't be a need for a higher stall. Are your tires 38" or taller, do you have enough advance in the timing, and was the cam degreed-in ?? Their listed range for the cam is likely estimated for a 350ci engine and would be 400 - 500 rpm...

    1997 GMC 1500 4WD won't engage and just blinks

I bought one of the cable conversion kits and have used half of it so far, I've not installed the cable or any of the brackets yet. They also make a kit without the cable ,and its hardware, that permanently locks the rh axle in. I just drilled and tapped the aluminum bushing/nut like that kit...

    Cracked Transfer case

If your case broke because of the snap-ring inside the tailhousing went - I'd look into installing a "case saver" in the replacement before installing it,(if this is one on those transfer cases that are prone to this). You don't want the chance of it happening again !

    305 build?

Search your head casting number until you find the combustion chamber cc size to find out if the 305 heads s have smaller chambers or not. The cam you picked for the 305 IS the one you want for the 350 & torque, it was at least 10* too big for the 305. You'll only want a true 9-1 compression...

    305 TPI

The Stealth Ram is actually a well flowing tunnel-ram style setup, but nothing to do with being designed like a dualplane intake. It is just like the GM Ramjet intakes. Have those TPI heads ported and use them instead of the TBI swirlport heads if you want more topend power. It should be VERY...

    305 TPI

There isn't a manifold differance - just larger injectors for a 350. There is a great differance between a tbi on a stock manifold and the flow of a tpi (which can also be improved from it's stock configuration). You should gain alot of torque and also some HP.

Help me pick a NEW 5.7 engine

You can usually count on at least 1 ft lb of torque for each cubic inch increase @ peak (33 ft lbs, with an .030 overbore included ), but you'll have a good increase for all of the powerband also. Thats if the same heads and cam are used . If you increase airflow from better heads or at least a...

    roller rockers,cam,and lifters

That failure was with roller lifters ? A definate No No with a flat tappet cam for sure because of the lifter to lobe wear pattern and regular used lifter wear, but I've never heard this about reusing good roller lifters. I only mentioned being able to reuse roller lifters because a cost...

    roller rockers,cam,and lifters

You don't have to worry about lifters and blocks having a wear pattern, it's not the same as a lifter to cam lobe wear pattern. Unless your block has lifter bore problems. No lifter is safe in a bad block. You can polish lifters , and you can hone or polish lifter bores (all it takes is a...

    roller rockers,cam,and lifters

True - and that has to do with not having to worry if your oil has enough EP additive, also less friction, better mileage, and more performance for a given duration (more lift is also possible - per the given duration). You can find the used roller parts for cheap, and you can reuse roller...

Help me pick a NEW 5.7 engine

If you are very satisfied with your tbi then have it rebuilt as a 383 and have your #193 swirlport heads redone with just alittle cleanup & valve work done to them . Consider converting to an oem roller setup with a very small single pattern cam and I think you'll be very pleased. You'll need...

    tail pipes check em out

They own a machine that makes mandrel bends, or they buy and use the bends ? Mandrel bent = DOM (drawn over mandrel), an extremely expensive and complicated piece of machinery, no "smalltown shop" would ever get their monies worth out of it

    tail pipes check em out

I've used those exact tailpipes on an '83, they were perfect for it. Being aluminized - they will by far outlast any non-aluminized piping by years. Also they are mandrel bent and at least 99.9% of any local muffler shops cannot produce mandrel bends, only crimp bends. I've been building my...
