Okay so some of you know rooster is in the shop getting the nv4500 rebuilt. I'm gonna be chasing down problems long put off on him and doing modifications along the way. My question is with my truck 350 nv4500 half ton has 3.73 gears I will be putting a locker in the rear when I change ring and pinion just to help keep from gernading it will the halfton axles hold 35s or should I just stick with 33 or 34s... will be driven daily and the occasional crawl in the woods

35s should be fine just be careful. Dont be dropping the clutch in the rocks and all that. I'm running 37s but plan to upgrade to 3/4 axles and suspension

I wouldn't run 35's with that gear, it'll run worse than a pig in heels. I run 35/12.5R20 on my 1/2 ton but I changed to 4.56 gears.

If your already going to put a new ring and pinion in the rear, its not that much more to 4.10 or 4.56 the front also.

If cost is an issue, could you live with 2wd and pull the front driveshaft until you save up enough to re-gear the front?

Do you all think I can run 33s on my factory 16 inch rims? I expect i would have to crank the bars a bit. I figured for daily driving the occasional romp through the woods and hauling with 3.73s and the first gen ultra low first gear nv4500 I should be good
