Having looked at all the options, this is the cheapest and easiest route for me.
Bought a complete 98 sub with a vortec 454 and a blown tranny for cheap, going to swap the motor, with the efi and wiring harness.
2.02/1.60 sr torqer heads and more lift on the cam than the vortecs can handle without machining.
An aftermarket tpi manifold is what I need but isn't in the budget right now.
It doesnt look like it would be to bad spacing all the accessory brackets out a bit either.
A swap to a nv4500 seems reasonable with a swap to aftermarket gauges . The computer doesn't control the fricken heater and ac too right ?
I clearly don't have much FI knowledge, so I don't know what the pcm needs to be happy just running the trans and gauges. the 400 won't have a crank position sensor or cam pos sensor. Probably not feasible.
Yes i was hoping there would be a way to put a throttle position sensor on the carb and have the stock computer run it with a re flash to save money for now till I can cough up enough cash for aftermarket fuel injection system.
Hello new member here. I've been searching and reading but still have questions!
I have a complete old school 400 small block from a previous project that i would like to jam in place of the 5.7 vortec.
Will the 4l80e work correctly with just a throttle position sensor on the carb? or do i need...
Hello. I'm new here and new to modifying f.i. engines. I have a 2000 k2500 sas crew cab sitting on 35's with the 5.7l vortec and 4l80e. Obviously it needs more power! I have a 400 ci small block with world products sr torqer heads 2.02/1.60.
Can I add a Holley stealth ram power pack kit to...
