Need help with new engine

Its a 1999 C2500 5.7 Vortec. Just for the hell of it, I took the serpentine belt off and started it. There was no noise at all, just a smooth running engine. I put the belt back on and the noise came back. I dont know what it could be. New water pump, new alternator, new fan and clutch, but...

Oh yeah, it seems to get quieter as the engine warms, but it does not go completely away.

Need help with new engine

I installed a new 5.7 in my c2500. It seems to run alright, but its making a funny noise on the top front of the motor. It sounds like thunk thunk thunk, like an air leak or something, not like metal noise. I am at a loss. My mechanics at my shop are at a loss. We are diesel mechanics, not car...

Need a reluctor wheel

For a 1998 c2500 with a 5.7. Where can I get one? Did something stupid and let the old one go with my core engine when I bought my new engine. An oversite on my part. :Insane: Any help is appreciated.

Where can I find door parts

Im looking for ashtray or covers for the ashtray holes in the rear doors of my 99 C2500 OBS. LMC does not carry them. I do not smoke so I would prefer to have a cover on the hole so my kids dont drop stuff down in the door. The ashtrays were not there when I bought the truck.

My 1999 C2500

Here is the intake when I took it off. Here is the valley area valve covers Cylinders. Notice the water ports are completely rusted. I had to poke with a screwdriver because I couldnt get it out with my fingers. #8 had water, look how clean the piston is.

Its been a while but....

Not worth putting a new cab on it to me. Insurance company gave me $4500 for it. Kid ran a stop sign and hit me in the side. Took door, front fender, and bed. I had some pictures, but guess I deleted them.

it wasnt compnine. You had to actually enter all the RPO codes, not the VIN and it was free.

Dont know where to post this, but... There was a website I use to use that you could enter all the RPO codes off of the glove box and it would give you a list of all the truck's options. You didnt have to look them up one at a time, rather it you could enter all of them and get a list...

My 1997 build

Random misfire....P0300

When my truck gave that code, it was from a vacuum leak. There was a big hose on the back side of the big plastic air breather tube. Its hard to see, but its about the size of your thumb, if it comes off, it will give a random misfire code. I plugged it in, and the code went away.
