    400 vs newer

Lots of really good stories in this thread! Mine is similar, but I will sum it up like this: I have loved my truck (I special ordered it) since the day I took delivery of it. Now, with 289,000 miles on it, I still love it like that first day.

    ac wiring 1997 c1500

Well, I think I found my problem, after troubleshooting everything, it came back to the controller. I saw a pic somewhere of the ribbon cable broken and sure enough, mine appeared to be broken too. I soldered a small wire and it works again.

    Tape Deck Issues

There’s nothing quite like old Van Halen on cassette. You can listen to it from beginning to end! I can do the same with that AIC with the dog on the cover, too.

    Tape Deck Issues

Well, this is a fun thread. I grew up with tapes, so I like my cassette deck to work. I hadn’t used it in many years (I turned the radio off sometime in 1999 and didn’t turn it back on until 2016) and one channel while playing a tape didn’t work. I pulled the radio, nosed around a bit and...

You talk about money, when I bought this truck, I was so broke, it’s all I had. That was a long four years! I like those years you speak of.

Thanks! It was always an Ohio truck until recently; I at least rinsed it off after a salting. Thanks! That was exactly my intention. I wanted a good old truck someday that didn’t have a lot of stuff to go wrong or break. I really love the bare bones feeling of it now that trucks have...

Hello everyone, nice group! This is my 1997 c2500 that I ordered new in 1996. It’s a Cheyenne with the bright appearance package. I ordered everything heavy duty that I could get, 8600 gvwr, 350, 4L80E, 3.73 locking rear, rubber floor/ vinyl seat, cruise, ac, second from the bottom radio with...

    ac wiring 1997 c1500

175-225 and 25-45. I recently rebuilt the system. I disturbed those wires, which are going to be old and brittle. The truck was an Ohio truck its whole life until recently. So this could’ve been a problem for a long time just waiting for the right opportunity.

I’m having this same problem, but only when I leave the truck sit in the Florida sun all day. The cabin and underhood temps get up to 130° and the ac won’t kick on. If I keep the truck in the garage, it works fine all day. If I ground the coil on the ac relay, it kicks on. I’ll be...

Thank you. Yes, I’ve replaced a few things on mine as well. My only mods are a remote start (I installed in ‘97) and an aooga horn. Also, forgive me for the hijack.

1998 C2500 Period Correct Daily Driver “Heavy Duty Judy”

The exterior shot was taken two months ago and the interior shot is two years old when I recovered the lower part of the seat. 283,000 miles, I just kept it clean and respected it.

Very nice. I’ve owned my nearly identical ‘97 Cheyenne since new, and it’s completely untouched, except for upkeep. I like period correct.
