1999 Tahoe fuel pump EP381 swap.

I think the first part of this thread was deleted. Starts off with hercimer01 saying "Ya'll can **** off". I thought that was a pretty good opening post but I was , admittedly, confused by it. And then it gets better with Schurkey going on his rant. Now I don't disagree with him on the...

    Vicious 1-2 Shift on 4L60E.

I've been through what you are going through. 1999 Yukon new reman 4L60E with teeth rattling 1-2 shift. All other shifts were perfect. It can really grind you down. I found myself clinching and letting off the gas before every 1-2 shift. I tried taking the kit out of the 1-2 accumulator and...

What to do if your brakes fail?

I watched the bottom video but not the UTG. Or I didn't make it past the Glass houses part. I would have liked the "good news" that was at the end of the video, would have been about how the person(s) in the minivan were doing better. They are the victims here. Being rear ended at 40+ MPH...

Door Seal Procurement and Acquisition (Best source and supplier)?

I bought the cargo door seal from OC Autocarpets. I think it was Precision branded weather stripping worked great wasn't' expensive. LMC truck has almost all the weather stripping on the truck. I have ordered a many things from LMC and unfortunately not all of it is quality stuff. Of the...

Found my problem or rather it found me today

AC Delco is the only pump I'd put in. And clean the tank inside and out. A lot of dirt and grit gets trapped around the outside of the fuel pump. If you don't clean it off it can fall in your tank when you take your pump out and kill your new fuel pump. I strain the gas through a filter before...

    400 vs newer

First vehicle I ever purchased new was a 1997 Tahoe. Between hunting and fishing, I have put some very hard miles on that truck and it has always come back for more. I currently drive a 1999 Yukon that I bought to be a donor truck for some of the plastic parts and other things that needed...

All too common LS swap vs unique old school small block

I think you should ask yourself what do you want to get from this? Are you doing this for more power? Is this something you are doing for fun? Swapping a SBC or a BBC would be easier and quicker an LS swap might be more interesting to do. With the SBC and BBC aftermarket upgrades are...

Why are expensive hand tools better than cheaper ones?

I knew this was going to be a heated debate when I saw the posting. I am impressed with this group that, for the most part, it was kept very civil. This debate can be very polarizing. Me personally, I don't buy Snap-on, Mac or Cromwell. Oh, I have some that I have acquired here and there and...

    Heater issue?

My son in law installed a HVAC control panel bought off of Amazon and had the same problem. I went through everything and couldn't find anything wrong. He had just acquired the Tahoe from me and it had been sitting for over 5 years so we assumed it was an existing condition , plugged heater...

How many use their trucks as true daily drivers?

Been driving a '97 Tahoe I bought new and a '99 Yukon I bought used 7 or 8 years ago. I love them. They are reliable. I don't have to worry about someone stealing them. They are easy to work on. Parts are plentiful and cheap. When the wife said it was time for me to get a new rig, I told...

    Help with Smog failure

This conversation reminded me of years ago when I owned an '85 S10 Blazer with a 2.5L four cylinder engine. I couldn't get it to pass emissions here in Oregon at idle. At the time they checked emissions at idle and at 2500 RPM. I was fine at 2500 but not at idle. Couldn't for the life of me...

OEM seat cover supplier question (for sewlow and others)

I recovered my seats in my '99 Yukon SLT earlier this year and used leatherseats.com. They were cheaper than the seat shop by quite a bit. I recovered the two buckets, the rear bench and all headrests and arm rests for just under $1000. They allow you to customize your seats quite a bit and...

    Online Transmission Rebuilder Recommendations?

I agree that using a local shop is better. I bought an rebuilt trans online from a name brand company that i have seen praised on many car programs. It took forever to ship and the 1-2 shift was so hard that if I was on the phone it would cause me to stutter. At WOT I would be looking in my...

    Allen wrench storage?

I received the Tekton set today. My first impression is pretty good. The case secures nicely. Slapped the case against my hand fairly hard and a few wrenches came loose but didn't move from their locations. Putting a thin piece of packing foam inside will take care of that. I do worry about...
