I removed all factory wiring from my truck laid it out on the floor. Took all the wire loom off, then started cutting out all the wires that used to control the factory motor. So what i was left with was guage wires, 4x4, and prnd selector wires.
Im not sure why they rust so easily but ive noticed that some color schemes seem to be worse than others. Id say this pewter color is the most prone to rusting.

I believe the 305 in your 1995 would be a tbi (thats what mine is) and the 350 in the 1997 is a vortec. So i would grab his ecm and the wiring harness just to keep the vortec. Ive never tried this however but im sure it can be done. As far as throwing your tbi intake on the vortec heads i think...
