If i have one bad thing to say about the body on a gmt 400 it would be that the ext cab corners rust way to easy.. So i had to take action and cut that rust outta there and weld some new metal back in.

Nicely done. Why do the cab corners rust on these? Any preventative measures for it?

Im not sure why they rust so easily but ive noticed that some color schemes seem to be worse than others. Id say this pewter color is the most prone to rusting.

I got a 1993 2wd in the same color and its right rusted out

Heh my favorite color. I thought maybe a water rail drains there or there's a drain hole that plugs easily

Nice work! I am in the middle of the same job.

How bad were the backing plates, behind the inner cab corner, that you had to weld the bottom seam too? I see in the fourth picture it looks decently solid, did you cover that in any rust preventative while you were in there?
