So an update on Dale:
As of 3/26/23
1. Transmission filter change and top offwith Lucas stop slip and atf. Trans cooler lines ran with earls fittings and Eaton push lock hose. No leaks, more expensive but no leaks. Tried using SS lines pre bent stainless steel lines and they leaked from the...
Well the radio in the truck comes on but doesn’t play volume so that’s on the list to figure out. I am even worried about playing it in a different cassette player just because of the age and I don’t think it’s ever been used. Would be neat to hear it though. Definitely have to find a random...
I found all of this stashed in the glove box minus the brochure and decal. Was a really neat find because I don’t think anyone had touched it in 30 years. I’m half scared to even try the features tape to see if it works.
The first thing to do was preserve the window sticker and all the original owners manuals, warranty info and service booklet. I found me a few must haves on eBay as well including an original 90s buds chevrolet dealership tag for the tailgate and a mint 1990 Chevy trucks brochure. I went ahead...
Well I found this gem back in February on Facebook market place with a burnt up transmission. Little would I know it would be an epic find. After getting it home and digging through the glove box I found the original window sticker, owners manual and features tape. It was at that point I decided...
So it begins. I’ve come to the determination this truck needs saved and the best way to do that is a complete frame off build. Step one is to find out and diag exactly what’s wrong with the transmission. As of now the cooler lines are leaking terribly and they were “patched” with rubber hose...
Got a friend who’s got a friend that works at the dealership and they’re gonna see if they can snag me a key chain and plate frame! Here’s hoping they’ll part with them. I contacted the dealer just to see if they had any records which was a long shot but they were really nice and loved the...
Clear on the other side of the state unfortunately. However I found the trans cooler lines patched with rubber hose and leaking bad. Gonna replace those, the filter and dump some Lucas trans stop slip and see what happens.
It was really cool to find. I actually contacted the dealer that sold it new just to tell them the story and see if they had any info on it. Obviously 33 years ago they didn’t have the computer systems like they do now so info was scarce. But my next step is to find an old buds Chevrolet key chain!
Ok so last year I purchased a 1993 K1500 dubbed Barbra jr and it turned into a can of worms. I quickly sold it for $1500. However, that lesson was meant to be as further education is never free.
Meet Dale.
A 1990 K1500 that I’m calling a 1 owner. I’m technically the third owner but the second...
Well I thought they had full support bars for ladders but I was wrong. I just did a quick dive too. We just have the backrack on out plow truck but I could have sworn they used to do complete ladder racks
