Well then you both apparently love to downshift for nothing.
The throttle blade mod has absolutely nothing to do with how well the truck holds gears. A tune will help him, the throttle blade diffuser removal will not.

this was a 2wd w/t, came with 235 75 15s stock3.42s and 31s ain't far from right. Most 3.42 trucks came with 265s which is a 31.8.

In my limited experience it took less gas to move after the throttle blade mod. Less gas means holds gears better at least with an automatic. When I drove a 5 speed holding a gear meant hitting a rev limiter
The reason it seems that way is you're getting more air into the engine with less movement of the pedal. The PCM will compensate for this and dump more fuel into the cylinders. You're not actually using any less gas, you're just moving the pedal less.
Well yeah that's what I meant by giving it more gas pedal movement not fuel

You are absolutely full of ****. It allows for more airflow with less throttle input and makes a huge difference in the truck's ability to hold OD. That, headers/exhaust, and a tune are the big 3 for these trucks.
