And for what? Fabulous power...for a six-popper, IF (big IF) you're willing to rev the thing. In a full-size truck, It'd get eaten alive by a 5.7L.

What's the weight of the GMT-360? I would think a 1/2-ton 2wd GMT-400 would be quite a bit lighter than a full interior midsize 4x4 SUV.

I belive the hot-rodded Atlas engines usually get turbos, but I haven't explored that. Only limited searches, while considering used vehicles.

Well......learn something new everyday!!!
That's interesting.
Because there is no intake stroke the blower has to push air into the cyl. while also pushing out the remainder of the spent charge. The blower is necessary foe the engine to even run. The turbo engines force air into the blower to increase airflow, dynamic compression and power. A Detroit with just a blower is considered naturally asperating.

The only people who are fans of the 2 stroke Detroit's have never had to drive one for 10 hours, without air conditioning, in the summer.
That will erase ANY good feelings you had for them.
Driving any truck without A/C for 10hrs in the summer would not create ANY good feelings.

If you want to be different, grab a LV3 4.3L and 8 or 10spd from a newer Express van. Atleast it is common, reliable and has aftermarket support being that it is basically a LT based V8 with 2 cylinders chopped out. At that point though, might as well just get a L83 5.3L, L86 6.2L or L8T 6.6L. I have seen complete takeout L86s and L8Ts with the transmission and less than 10K miles for under $6K.
