Just bought my first truck, an old Bell Telephone 97? 3500 2 wheel peel(I think, seller didn't know the year and I didn't bother to look up the VIN. For 600 bucks with title, I didn't bother.) Runs like a top, brakes are shot but she's good for having sat. Alternator seized right up on first start but we broke her loose just fine and she makes a hair over 14. Tight, fairly clean. 350 is quiet as hell, almost no noise. Anything I should know about these trucks before I dive into my resurrection over the summer?

Damn good deal. First what are your plans with the truck. Depending on your plans I may have a few tips. I have my 89 short bed single cab I’m restoring ground up. And my wife has a 97 crew cab c3500 with the 6.5 Detroit diesel in it. We lowered her and painted it. Obs trucks are very reliable and easy to work on.

I don't have much for set in stone plans, I'd like to slowly clean it up over summer after work and see where it goes. A list of some of the stuff I'd like to do is gonna be after this though. It's really rare to see the 3500 crews up my way, only couple I can remember off the top of my head are rollbacks and a rockerless lime green creature. I'd like to know what my trouble spots could be after it sitting and what I should do to prep it for a daily commute on my state's warzone highway (I-93).

Mechanical requirements
-Brakes (It sat, left rear sticks constantly and I have almost no stopping power)
-New alternator (It took double wrenching to break mine free)
-Misc. electrical, it's not nice having a cotter pin replacing a relay
-New bed (8ft pickup if I can find one, flatbed if I can't)

Cosmetics/Non-crucial stuff
-3500 west coast mirrors (My doors have the mounts for them but the regular mirrors on it have only chrome holding the housing together)
-OEM flares (My pa's 99 had them, always liked the look)
-Proper SL grill because it's a GMC but company repairs happened
-CB because why not.

And attached is the picture of the absolutely beautiful subframe of that body. Luckily it's pretty much truck specific so most buyers wouldn't want it anyways. Plan on asking 400 and accepting 300 on the body, it's all intact and straight with a rack and cover. I'll post it in the classifieds here when it's separated
