If you went through route of finding a take out front and rear it may be worth it. It really will be hard to overcome the torque difference otherwise. As awesome as 285s look, ever consider swapping to 265s?

Yeah, I've priced out some more aggressive tires in a smaller size; the main reason I got the 285s is they looked good, and were on sale.
I'm thinking maybe a Nitto Trail Grappler in 265/75r16; while I know it's a mud-terrain, I've heard they wear like iron if you keep them rotated, those or Hankook Dynapro MTs.

Those would be good options I'm sure.. You should check out goodyear duratracs, they're probably the best balance between mt/at that I've found. I have a set on my newer pickup and I love them so far. Traction on snow/ice/mud is better than any AT I've owned by far, and they dig pretty well like an MT.

I thought about Duratracs, they look really aggressive and I love the sidewall design. I thought about running a tall skinny set on whatever XJ I wind up with in the future.

So I got my Tech Manuals in; thanks to @df2x4 for the Ebay link; $132 bucks but I can tell it's going to be a huge asset to own these books.

Went into town to wash it today; rain moved in of course. As I was leaving the car wash it stumbled real hard and felt like it wanted to die; but once I gave it a little throttle it cleared up and went back to normal.
Didn't give me any issues the whole drive home; maybe something underneath got wet that shouldn't have?

Could be. I'm on my 2nd set of Duratracs on the 1500 and I like them as well. As aggressive as they look, they're a quiet tire. I got 44k from my first set with a crap alignment, not sure where I'll end up with this set but I anticipate I'll exceed the 40k warranty again and our roads SUCK for tire wear. My cousin got 80k from his back in MI where the roads are more concrete than asphalt and fewer 60 mph turns.

Mine did that once. I think it was sudden loss of fuel pressure. Idk. It hasn't done it again in 3yrs and after a new fuel pump.

Well. Swapped my 0411 in.

It took me about 6 hours, I took my time and double checked each wire, and I've still got issues.

Issue #1 - PCM doesn't reach the tray now, I think it's my fault for not unlooming enough wire, and not to mention I turned the wiring into a rat's nest.
Issue #2 - it's got 3 codes now, a P102, a PO341, and a P1336. I was expecting the P1336, but not the other two.

Issue #3 - It runs really rough at low RPMs, like it wants to die, I tried the EGR thing but I don't think that's an issue because I had it tuned out.

Issue #4 - My ABS light is on now,

Other than that, the truck runs smoother when it's driving, and with a quick drive around my neighborhood my throttle response is 10x better, but I'm eager to see the difference once I get everything worked out.

Do you know anyone with HP tuners that could pull your file and send it to me? I'd really like to know what's so different that the MAF is now magically giving you issues.

Furthermore, I don't know why your ABS light would be on. I think I had to double check my wiring once as well cause I found I'd put a pin or a set of pins in the wrong spot. I'm not saying you've done it wrong, but triple check the wiring tomorrow just to be sure again.

Can you take a look at PIDs with Torque and see any issues?

Did you unplug the EGR? I turned mine off but had to unplug it for it to take. Idled like it had a donkey dick cam and was a hard starting *****.
