High mount third brake light gasket seal

Does anyone know where to buy a new gasket for the high mount brake light assembly for a 1998 truck? I’d even buy a whole new assembly if I can stop this leak.

The only non-ricey looking, OEM STYLE units I can find are used eBay parts with gaskets as crusty looking as my current situation.

I used good old clear RTV sealant.

The dealer may still be able to get the back part that has the gasket on it. FYI..reg cabs and crew cabs take the same one. Extended cabs are slightly different-for whatever GM reason.

LMC Trucks still list the base plate, and I don't know if that includes the gasket.

As mentioned, it's part of the housing and non serviceable. Can't buy just the gasket, got to buy the whole housing.

Weird that the dealer couldn't get you one @Oldblue98, they're still available. About $115 from GM Parts Direct not including shipping. Part number 16522433 for standard and crew cabs, 16522434 for extended cabs.

That should just be the back part with the rubber gasket..and not the actually lense part of it. At least it was in my case.

Yup, the lenses are separate and discontinued.

I went to both in my area, seemed strange that LMC had a source but dealer said no. I had a bad lense and gasket, got a good used lense and base from a member and polished and clear coated it but gasket still looks old and rough. I will use that number and see what I can find.

Seeing as how all the replacement options are all well over $100, I’m most likely going to buy a small sheet of 1/4-3/8” thick neoprene, trace the old gasket, and make one myself with an exacto knife.

I was looking on ebay and there are a lot of aftermarket LED replacements for the whole fixture. Have any of you looked at those?
