Will 70r16 tires fit on a 75r16 wheel?

yep the first number in a tire size is the width ie 285 305 and so on the second is a ratio which determines the height I believe ..... but yes they will fit

Just for future reference, wheels aren't measured in the same way as tires. A wheel is typically measured as 16(diameter)X 8 (width) for example, where tires nowadays are generally measured as 265/70R/16 as an example. The last measurement in the tire size is the wheel diameter. So if you have a 16 inch wheel, you need the last measurement in the tire size to be 16.

Example.

305/70r16

305 = width in milimeters (always in milimeters when aspect ratio is drawn out like this)

Sometimes you will see 33x12.50x16, which is not as accurate, but means 33 inches tall, 12.5 inches wide and 16 inch center (wheel) diameter.

Anyways on with the explanation..

Like I said 305 = width in milimeters

70 = the percentage of the width to make up the sidewall in, so 305x.70=213.5 millimeters is the sidewall heighth.

16 is the diameter of the wheel in inches.

So 305/70r16

305mm wide, ~214mm sidewall height, 16in. center bore for wheel.

Now if you really want information, convert mm to inches..

There is 25.4 mm in 1 inch.

so 305/25.4 = ~ 12" wide

213.5/25.4 = ~ 8.4" sidewall (Double this because there is a sidewall on each side of the wheel)

16" wheel = 16" wheel

--------12+8.4+8.4+16 = 32.8

So a 305/70r16 is 32.8 inches tall, ~12.05 inches wide.

Now lets try a 315/70r16, figure that out.
