Still lots of options in the 245s, thankfully. I appreciate everyones help. I've got it narrowed down:

All tires are XL with a load range of 103
Continental Control Contact Sport SRS+ ($960 with 50K mile warranty)
Nitto Motivo ($828 with 60K mile warranty)
Firestone FireHawk AS V2 ($924 with 50K mile warranty)

The Nitto seems like the winner. I've got some time to decide and shop for a decent price.

I run 20x8's up front with a 5" + drop and and have daily for 10 years have tried Many sizes and tires.....it used to be next to impossible to find but now a few cars suvs come with Porsche Cayenne and the Camaro SS. if you have the stock under fenders 245/40-20 was over the best size. Make sure to set the tow of your front wheels to 0° or you will wear tires or so fast. Hope this helps

That's the size that I bent several of my Centerlines with, driving around Houston mostly on roads I knew where to avoid the bad spots. :(

They really are rubber band-ish, about an inch shorter than a 245/45/20 (size OP ordered), and more than 1.25" shorter than the 255/45/20's I changed to.

I honestly can't imagine running 245/40/20 on an extended cab longbed 8 lug 2500, but that's just my opinion on it.
