yes, that is not the direct replacement although it can work nicely but more work is required, the stock pcm doesn't have fuel trims and such that will support that engine.

twice the mpg? don't think so. in identical trucks, vortec 350 16, tbi 350 14.5, 5.3 17 with the same type of driving. seen and done it. and as soon as you actually work it the 5.3 has to spin to the moon to make power and gets worse, the ls engines can make huge power but they are no working truck engine by a long shot.

In my nbs I ran nothing but super in it since 40k and could do 400 to a tank on a road trip and 350 miles in city Can't see a 350 doin that. Idk I thought my 5.3 got decent Milage for a four door

compare the same package trucks, gears ect. 96 Yukon pushed 19 on freeway driving, no worse than any 5.3 ive seen with or without afm.

on obd1 tbi controlled engines you need a custom chip made the pcm is not tunable.

Are we all sure this engine will even work? It doesn't have center valve cover bolts. I thought, that the center valve cover bolts designated a different head setup that would work with a tbi set up, or vortec set up. Im just spitballin guys some one needs to tune in with mor tbi experience.

ha, a good 350 is twice the engine a 5.3 could ever wish to be in a truck you actually use as a truck.

You've got to be kidding me...... I'd own a 5.3 over a 350 any day of the week, more power to weight ratio, way more things to gain triple the HP.
