Spending 2k on a motor? U don't want to swap to a 5.3? Not sure the total cost on a 5.3 but I know u can get on with trans here for about a grand

ha, a good 350 is twice the engine a 5.3 could ever wish to be in a truck you actually use as a truck.

im sticking with the 5.7. mainly I am taking the rest of the parts off of my bad engine and putting them on (I already rebuilt the top end in it). im just keeping it simple but adding a bit more power. all it is is a farm truck/daily driver that I like to take out and have fun in it every once in a while. with a 5.3 swap I would think I would have to do quite a bit more, not to mention the wiring and electronics of the engine. not to hate on the 5.3 though, theyre great engines but this is the one i'm swapping in

Hm idk I loved my 5.3 and they get twice the gas mileage. Just my opinion if I had 2k I would swap to a 5.3

that engine you picked out is not the replacement for yours and you will have lean drivability issues among others with the stock tbi and chip.

twice the mpg? don't think so. in identical trucks, vortec 350 16, tbi 350 14.5, 5.3 17 with the same type of driving. seen and done it. and as soon as you actually work it the 5.3 has to spin to the moon to make power and gets worse, the ls engines can make huge power but they are no working truck engine by a long shot.
