Turbo an 8.8. When gm sold them to psi they stuck them in trucks and school busses. I believe they had forged cranks and pistons. I can find good core takeout that got replaced with a new crate motor cheeper than I can buy the parts to stroke an 8.1
I would like to get 8.8 for less than 8.1l. Usually rods and crank are forged on medium duty motors, but rods still used weaker hardware.

Talking about V6's in 3/4 ton trucks do any of y'all remember the 305 V6?

ah the old 60-66 gmc big block v6s 305 351 478 the 503 inline 6 the 637 v8 and the 702 v12 all in both gas and diesel options I think
Best GMC V6--V8--V12 web-site:

I'd like a nicely-done 1960 GMC 2WD with one of the V6s. Of course, those were practically scrap-iron-priced years ago, and now they're expensive...or junk.

I would take a 6 lug 3/4 ton gmc/chevy over a 7 lug f250 any day also there were 7 f150s as well they were called 7700s for their gvwr that blue oval all ways doing dumb and weird $#!+
Yeah i would too. The 7 lug F250 was horrible. I worked for a guy who had one and he said brake and suspension parts were horribly expensive and hard to find. i explained to him why. At least for the GM you can get the keys. Try finding a wheel for that 7 lug. Ha it took a month and $200 to get one. I like fords i own a few of them but that f250 was horrible.

Could be worse. Ford "swiss cheesed" the frames of some of the light-duty trucks back in the late '70s or early '80s. They were a disaster. Frames folded-up.
