I run mine till im damn near out lol

Literally not cool.

:)

The pump cools itself with fuel and when you're low it doesn't cool as well. This leads to a shorter lifespan.

I don't run my diesel below 1/4, but I don't have an in tank pump. I don't run mine low because introducing air into a diesel injection system is very very bad....:(

I run it until the needle as far left as it can get. Then I it up and usually have about 5 gallons left.

I don't generally run mine very low, but periodically i will just to have a fresh tank of gas.

Last trip I took I averaged about 15.1mpg. Here is what torque obd2 is calculating:

On my all highway drive from raleigh to miami I got around 23 mpg in my 5.7 auto

much agreed, i cant remember when the last time i got more then 13 MPG average to a tank, in my new 2000 Z71 i wanted to see how many miles i could get to a tank this last week and spent the first 110 mile on the highway at 60 miles an hour, thought i was on a good start but the next day spent 40 miles in traffic at 5 MPH, averaged 14 that tank, in 2 weeks im going from Baton Rouge to Houston TX so ill be able to test it out

14 isn't to bad for a lot of stop and go. All highway you may see 16-17 out of a 5.3 4x4

im really hoping for atleast 18, i had a 96 Z71 when i was 16 that hadnt been molested like my 97 Z71 adn i averaged 19.5 on a road trip, that truck was the opposite of a lemon though, it was a freak
