Ya, that's one way to do it. Once you learn all of the features you will learn how to blend photos and extract objects from a photo to put into another one to make a render.

Good tutorial, though the sig making isn't a specific art. There's many different ways to go about it. A lot of it is artist preference. I can tell you that my signature style has changed dramatically though out the years.

There's many many ways to make a signature, as Jack said. But that tutorial is a good walk through for a simple one! I don't make signatures using that method, but that method will work!
