I have 98 k1500 with a 2" front torsion lift. I'm goin to put on a 4" suspension lift and want to know which size tires would look/fit best with a 16" wheel. Also, should the wheel offset be zero or positive? Negative is out of the question. Any imput is apreciated. Thanks.

It just depends. You can easily fit a 35x12.5 tire with a 4" suspension lift, but you wouldn't have tons of room. Something in the 33-34" range (maybe a 285/75/16 or 315/75/16 if you want something wider). I assume your running stock wheels now? Why is negative out of the question? The larger (wider) your tire gets, the closer it's going to be to the frame and everything else inside when you turn. I'm here to tell you that your going want to have a wheel with a MINIMUM of 0 offset. Personally I would run something in the -6 to -11 offset range. First, it would push the tires out just a bit AND more importantly it would give you clearance on when you turn.

Why are you gonna only run a 4 inch? Most kits that are advertised as a 4 are the same as the 6 just with a different rear set up. I would go with a 6 and 35s if you wanna play it safe but in reality I would do a 6 and 37s. There are plenty of pictures all over the place to help you decide on what you want to run you just have to take a look around. Also I have to ask... Did you buy new keys for your torsion "lift" or did you just crank your stock ones? Because if you bought new keys they are useless on this bodystyle truck and only a waste of money.

Im interested in this thread as well. I have a 3" bl and torsion bars cranked to level. Im running 16x8 aftermarket wheels with -6 offset.

What tire size sbould I run? Im trying to decide between 305/70/16, 285/75/16, 295/75/16 and 315/75/16. I do want the tires to stick out just a little past my stock fender flares.

Not planning to regear at this time and I have 3.42s. What do yall think?

BTW I have a 96 2 door Yukon 4x4

I have a 3" BL with 285's and wish I would have gone to a 305 tire.

305 is the same as a 285 only wider.

IMO 6 inch lift with 37's or 36's, 35's is you got some really wide or dished out wheel and tire combo.

body lift and crank with 35's or 315's on close to stock wheels and if you go wide or deep dish run the 305's or 385's they are 33's

I think the 285 is out. Its just not wide enough. I like the height of the 295 cause most brands are around 33.2". I like the width of the 305 (around 12.2 inches) but its not quite as tall as a 295.

Without the fender flares id go with a 295 but since i have them, im not sure if the 295's would be wide enough

Right. He was saying he wanted them to stick out a little.

I was talking about you buddy you said you had 285's and wished ya had went with the 305's.

stock wheels kill the width of a tire, doing some 8 inch wide ones or just some that stick out more would help alot.

you could saty with 285's and run a wider rim or one that sticks out more and it fill it out nicely esp. w/ flares.

on a side note I wished I'd quit hearing and seeing threads on 285's. I got a set in the building waiting to go on mine, can't wait but aint going out in the cold, snow or rain to try and put em on LOL. I want em on as in yesterday but tey are still out there. These threads keep teasing me. I'm also curious as to if I need a body lift to clear em or not.
