The notorious quick connect heater hose fitting.......

I'm getting tired of replacing the quick connect heater hose fitting on my 1st Gen Vortecs. What is the substitute for those fittings? Will a 3/8 NPT thread into the manifold hole? Or is it a 1/2 NPT hole in the manifold? Is it a 3/8 outlet?
