I got a 91 sierra 4X4, its been cold up here a while when I start the truck in the morning it seems to idle fine and after i drive it for a while it seems to just slowly die but if i give it fuel for a bit it stays running. the after about 4 hours later i start it up and it runs like a top, then the cycle continues the next day? what the hell!!!

this sounds like the issue I'm having. I have replaced my fuel pump, and filter, and a bunch of other sensors. I hope it is something I overlooked. good luck, and I will get back if I hear anything.

I'm having the same problem in hot weather. My started cable is melted and arcing across the passenger manifold, and my ground straps are old and corroded. Maybe you're having electrical issues too.

Edit: you guys brought up a really old thread. Haha.

ect sensor is common fir cold running issues.

not the dash gauge, the ecm sensor.

If you have data logging capability run a log and see if it ever comes up to temp or is erratic.

I solved my trucks idle issues by properly, changing the IAC valve. 91k2500 vortec 5.7.
