SUV roof mounted luggage rack & cross bar question

My 'burb didn't cone with the cross bars on the luggage rack.

Tahoe.mkIII sent me some. (Thanks)

I attempted to install them quickly yesterday, unsuccessfully.
Do the side rails have to come off of the pedestal mounts in order to slide the cross bar end pieces into the side rail channels?

Just can't visualize how these go on with out removing the side rails.... ?

I'm fairly certain they do, but I've never taken my roof rack off (yet). I'm planning to swap mine for a denali rack, so if I get to that soon, I'll let you know what I find.

Strange that yours would be missing that.
