Stupid question

I think this is the appropriate place to ask a question I came up empty on when I searched.

Does my 97 silverado use the ignition key for the door locks? It doesnt seem to work bu I havent tried any lube. My remote is starting to have issues and I dont want to get locked out. Thanks

Yes same key. Mine did the same thing and I went to the dealer and got a vin key cut. They work perfect now

Yep, get a new key made from the dealership by the vin, your key is worn and hitting the tumblers

Cool, thanks guys. I'll probably get a new remote while I'm there. It doesnt like the dust that gets in my pockets from the job sites.
